WHY YOU SHOULDN’T MISS OUT:
Tashaki Miyaki are a boy/girl duo from Los Angeles.
The band’s anonymity leaves you wondering who is “Tashaki” and who is “Miyaki”, but entranced while listening to their dreamy, hazy indie pop that sounds like Best Coast meets Beach House, with a hint of shoegaze.
The mystery behind the band can be a bit frustrating, with little written about who the band is. But their fuzzy pop music is so hauntingly beautiful that it leaves you almost in a daze.
“Following their gorgeously woozy cover of the Everly Brothers, which was their debut record, comes an original. ‘Best Friend’ is catchy, blissed-out dreampop, sweet and spacey and certain to win the hearts of anyone who ever loved Mazzy Star. The washes of guitar harden up and add feedback and reverb on flipside ‘Tonight’, which sounds like the Jesus and Mary Chain with a little early Neil Young in the mix. Making honeyed pop with a darker heart, Tashaki Miyaki combine all the best bits of all the bands we like best.” - SoundXP.com / Listen here
“Breezy and hazy like a late-afternoon stroll down a Californian boardwalk…” - The Line of Best Fit
